Is having Acupuncture the same day as Massage or Chiropractic okay?
I strongly encourage clients to alternate their other treatments, such as massage and chiropractic, with acupuncture. This helps the body and mind to maximize the benefits of each treatment and integrate them more fully.
I have seen in my practice, however, that having acupuncture the same day as counselling supports movement and release and bringing the body and mind more into sync. When the mind and body are more integrated, the transformation of emotions and mindsets is become possible.
Does Acupuncture hurt?
Acupuncture needles are solid and very thin unlike hypodermic needles, which are hollow and thicker. Acupuncture needles pass between tissue fibres whereas hypodermic needles cut into tissue fibres causing pain.
Generally, acupuncture does not hurt. Some people feel a slight prick like a small mosquito bite when the needle is inserted. Once the needle is inserted, you may feel nothing, a slight pressure, warmth or a sensation of opening around the needle. People often report feeling sleepy or very relaxed during the treatment.
