Does Acupuncture Hurt?

Generally, acupuncture does not hurt. Some people feel a slight prick like a small mosquito bite when the needle is inserted.

Acupuncture needles are solid and very thin unlike hypodermic needles, which are hollow and thicker. Acupuncture needles pass between tissue fibres whereas hypodermic needles cut into tissue fibres causing pain.
