About Lone

I am a Registered Acupuncturist with Alberta Health & Wellness (www.health.alberta.ca) and a member of the College & Association of Acupuncturists of Alberta (www.acupuncturealberta.ca). I hold a 4-year Diploma of Traditional Chinese Medicine from The Canadian College of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine in Victoria, BC, and have a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Victoria (BC).

I practice acupuncture from a Chinese Medicine perspective. Chinese Medicine is the oldest continuous recorded medical system. It is based on a precise and predictable system of diagnosis and treatment. Diagnosis is arrived at through pattern recognition. Rather than labeling diseases, Chinese Medicine describes and categorizes the pattern of symptoms and signs that you are experiencing. I take your pulses, look at the appearance of your tongue, skin, etc., and take note of the collection of symptoms that you describe to me. Using this information, I will make a diagnosis and decide on a treatment plan.

Before becoming an acupuncturist

Before becoming an acupuncturist, I taught English and intercultural communication for 18 years in medical, academic and corporate contexts in Canada and Japan. In that time, my husband and I spent 10 years living, working and studying in Japan, and travelling throughout Asia. These experiences have shaped how I approach life and health, and how I practice acupuncture and Chinese medicine. I have a passion for good, local, whole food, a deep appreciation of the seasons and natural environment, and curiosity about what makes a life healthful and meaningful.
